A Quest To Mars

A Quest To Mars

In the beginning, there were only five spirits roaming the galaxy. Human was the most serene spirit, for he was the only one who attempted to make peace among the others; Wind, Water, Fire, and Dirt. Each day all of the spirits, besides human, would fight over dominance of creating their own world. But the problem was that they needed more than just themselves to make one. After several years of constant arguing, Human could not deal with it any longer. He decided he would sacrifice himself for the peace among the four others. The next day, without telling anyone, Human secretly snuck away.
Immediately after Human sacrificed himself, a huge wave of energy collided all four of the other spirits and created what is known as Earth. But Human still had nowhere to go, so he created his own planet that people may live on. He called this planet Mars. He planned for his people to live freely and make their own decisions and that seemed to work, so from then on that is where humans lived.

Bill of Rights on Mars

In this blog, I will be sharing my ideas for what the Bill of Rights on Mars should be.

1. Freedom of religion, speech, and press
I believe this should be on the Mars Bill of Rights because everyone should have the right to their own religion, say what they think, and have a part in their government.

2. Right to choose if they want to stay on Earth or go to Mars

They should not be forced to leave or stay

3. No excessive bail fine or unfair punishment

Punishments are bail charges must equal the crime committed.

4. All people are to be treated equal

All genders, colors, races, etc. must be treated equally.

5. Due process

They must have the right to a fair trail.

6. Protection of rights to life, liberty, and property

They will have the rights to life, liberty, and property.

7. Protection from unreasonable searches and seizures

Police or government must have a warrant to search your home or property.

8. The right to vote

Everyone has the right to choose their future president or leader.

9. Limits to presidency or leadership

There is a time limit on how long a president can be the leader.

10. Slavery outlawed

No one can be held against their will to work for another.

To Mars

Personal Statement

Describe the world you come from-- for example, your family, community or school--and tell us how your world has shaped your dream to journey to Mars.

If I could present my world as a painting, it would most certainly be colorful and vibrant.

I have grown up in the very different surroundings of
Santa Barbara, California and Boulder Junction, Wisconsin.

I am traveling constantly so moving around is like a second nature to me. Even though I have always lived in California, Wisconsin has always been a home to me. My family has consisted of two people: my mom and myself. I am very influenced by my mom. She has always been a great impact on my dreams, goals, and personality.

My world has influenced my decision on my journey to Mars. This all started on November 14, as the 8th-grade class listened to Maxi's hero, Scott Kelly. This is because he was one of the first people to travel in space for over a year. I have always wanted to be like him, and go to space. Instead of just going to space, I wanted to aim high past the sky and go to Mars.

Hey!

In this blog post, I will be writing about someone or something I want to declare independence from.

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for me to dissolve the bands which have connected me with taking tests, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that I should declare the causes which impel me to the separation. I would like to declare separation form taking large tests. This is because taking large tests can stress out many people. This can even cause them to get worse grades on the test. I also think the large test that give you your final grade does not acuratly show how much you actually know. This is why I think large test are unfair to many people.

Hey!

This blog post is about the two poems we wrote and why these two people are leaders in the book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.

Junior is a leader in this book because he is a Native American in an all-white school and that can take a lot of courage.

Rowdy is a leader in this book because he is strong and confident with who he is.

Junior

I am from the Naive American tribes
From poverty

I am from the reservation
I am from my home
From the same place
Never leaving

I am from the tribe of kids who miss their best friend
From “I’m sorry”

I am from disabilities
I am from people making fun of me
From always being called names

I am from the tribe of cartoonists
I am from the ones who draw
From “Life is more simple that way”
or
“Everyone can understand”

I am from running fast, to get away
From trying to find my identity

Rowdy

I am from Native American tribes
From poverty
I am from Washington
I am from small towns

I am from the reservation
I am from  having to be tough
From not showing anything

I am from being damaged goods
From being bullied
And
From being the bully

I am from the tribe of small-town kids
From growing up that way
And staying that way

Hey!

This week in history we are studying the thirteen colonies and the lives of the colonists. Today I will be comparing and contrasting my life to the life in the colonial era. For example, the education was different. The wealthy planters usually hired teachers to teach their younger children, the older children were often sent to schools in cities far away, for even England, for a better education. Religion was one of the most important things in their life. It is similar and different to our lives. It is similar because their were many different religions, but it differs from us because they had to travel many, many miles to find a place to have religious freedom. There family life was usually different from ours as well. That is because the man usually worked and the woman stayed home to clean and cook (if they had no slaves working for them).

IDENTITY

Hey!

In this blog I will be writing about the "tribes" I most identify with.

In Sherman Alexie's novel, The Absolute Diary of a Part Time Indian,  Junior belong to many different tribes, just like we identify with many other tribes or groups of people that can relate to what we can. I identify with with the tribe of vegetarians, the tribe of tennis players, and the tribe of Californians because I have lived here my whole life. I identify with these groups  because they have been apart of my life for many years. Just like how Junior may identify with the things he has had in his life for a long time.

I am from Santa Barbara, California.

Tennis and my friends matter to me.

I love school and the beach.

I want to go far in academics and photography.

I dread spiders, snakes, raccoons, lizards, and caterpillars.

I hope that this school year will be super rad.

I need to not be afraid of so many animals.

I am someone who loves traveling.
